I had a great experience bringing my guinea pig Toby in for an issue with his eye. I felt like Toby was in good hands with Dr. Hammer and everyone was so nice and accommodating for him. I will definitely have to bring in my other 3 piggies.
Dr. Metzler was amazing with our cockatiel Coco who broke his leg! She was so kind and gentle with him and made me feel so much better during the whole process. The 2 hour drive from our house to her office was worth every minute!!
I have used Summerfields since 2018 and I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone but todays appointment blew the others away. The front staff came over several times to talk to my girls and pet them. I felt so seen as a pet parent and not just another patient in the lobby. Then the vet and the vet tech were so kind and handled my problem child with such grace. Just another reason I love this office and their team!
They are always quick to sit in the floor to play with your fur baby before starting the exam and they truly care about their patients. It is an animal hospital so emergency’s come through and the wait time for your appointment can be prolonged but worth it for the care care they give. I love their evening and weekend hours too!
If I could give NEGATIVE stars I would!!! The DVM Josh Myers was so brutal with our new kitten, Lou, my wife had to take the cat from him and walked out.
We recently rescued a blind newborn kitten through a rescue and she was up for her four week check up. Mr. Myers seemed annoyed with the fact that she was a rescue and didn’t want to be bothered with the cat and or my wife’s questions. The kitty is blind but perfectly happy and healthy. He asked my wife “why would you even bother with a stray cat that’s probably going to die.” He was very clear that we were wasting not only our time but his as well.
When he reached to pick up Lou she was sleeping and he did it so hard she screamed and tried to bat at him at which point he threw her down on the table. THREW A NEWBORN KITTEN!! He then proceeded to attempt to give her a vaccine upon which he jammed into her little leg. She is now limping. We will probably wind up taking her to another vet for evaluation if it continues.
Overall the experience was awful and that place should be avoided at all costs for the sake of your animals.
Dr. Hammer got me through a rough time in letting Carter McLovin go early this year but he said I have a big heart and should consider an addition for Coco. I would not trust anyone else with these 2 precious sweethearts Coco and Justine Rufferson.
My first visit with Summerfields was an emergency because my sweet rabbit Nova was not eating. They got me in that same day even though I was a new client and got her back to normal <3 I am so grateful to them and have been bringing her ever since. She is always so well taken care of and each of my concerns are always talked through. Hope my baby stays healthy, but if not, this is where we will go.
So grateful for the staff! I struggled trying to find a vet that specializes in tortoises but theses guys are the best. They will make sure your pet is taking care of! Even a day after I left my appointment; I realized I forgot some questions to ask and the vet called me back quickly to answer them. Also the office cat is very cute as well!
The office is clean, the staff is friendly. It was easy to set an appointment. The visit was thorough and all of our questions were answered. I felt confident that the doctor was knowledgeable and provided the best treatment plan for our cat.
